Mr. Perry is a Public Contact Outreach Specialist for the Houston Regional Office of the Department of Veteran Affairs/Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA). He is responsible for providing detailed information on eligibility and access to programs and services administered by VBA, and partnering with various community stakeholders in conducting outreach to ensure accurate information is made available to honorably discharged/retired veterans of the US Military and their dependents residing in the Southern part of Texas, in the Republic of Mexico, and in Central and South America.
He is also responsible for assisting in the promotion and improvement of access to VA services by Minority Veterans as the Houston Regional Office Minority Veterans Program Coordinator, and by representing the Houston Regional office in working with the Regional Network for the White House Initiative on Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders. He advocates for Veterans in the rural areas of the state as the Rural Outreach Coordinator, and in his role as Casualty Assistance Coordinator, he ensures VA survivor benefits are made available to eligible family/dependents of service members who die in the line of duty, and veterans who die due to service-connected conditions. Perry also serves as the local point of contact for the Center for Faith and Neighborhood Partnerships which strives to partner with the Faith Based Community in engaging Veterans, Family Members, and Survivors. Prior to returning to active duty with the military, he served as an administrative manager for Vinson & Elkins Attorneys at Law.
Following retirement from the Military (Army/Army National Guard), at the rank of Sargent First Class(E7), with 20 years of honorable service, Edward began his tenure with the Veterans Benefits Administration as a Work-Study participant through Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Services at the New York Regional Office. He was eventually hired as a Claims Assistant and subsequently promoted to Veterans Service Representative and Military Services Coordinator prior to his current assignments. He has received a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Nyack College/Alliance Theological Seminary, Nyack, New York, completed graduate studies in Organizational Leadership from the Nyack College School of Business Leadership, and is currently studying for National Certification as a Christian Counselor. Mr. Perry is also an Ordained Christian Minister who has served as Church Planter, Assistant, Youth and Senior Pastor. He currently serves as Director of Sunday School at the Holman Street Baptist Church, Houston, Texas. A native of Goliad, Texas, he and his wife, Rana Robinson-Perry, and twin sons Edward II and Elijah live in Manvel, Texas.
In his free time, Mr. Perry enjoys reading, cooking, creating and listening to music, researching history and genealogy, and planning and participating in family gatherings and reunions.
