Councilmember Hehn (Mayor Pro-Tem)
About Councilmember Hehn
Lorraine Ramirez Hehn is a current City of Manvel Councilmember, where she has served since 2015, and has been a resident of Manvel since 2007. She has been nominated 6 consecutive years as the Mayor Pro-Tem and has had a lot of opportunities to represent the City alongside the Mayor. Mrs. Hehn is very proud of the controlled growth of the City, its strong sense of community and the citizen outreach she has either initiated or contributed to in Manvel, Texas. Before being elected to Council, she had served on various committees and commissions from 2012. She has served on Planning, Development and Zoning, and the City Charter Commission Review and the City’s Comprehensive Plan Steering Commission, the Manvel Events Board and currently serves on the Manvel Economic Development Corporation.
In addition to her City of Manvel involvement, she currently holds the position of Vice President for the TML Affiliate of the Association of Hispanic Municipal Officials and is participating in the Alvin-Manvel Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy. Mrs. Hehn is passionate, vocal and a promoter of all things local, whether it be local business, resident connections, property development, city or county affairs; if it connects us all, she’s on it!
She is deeply involved with and stays apprised by Houston Unbound, which focuses on resources for our community to help survivors of human trafficking. She also has committed involvement with the Alvin-Manvel Chamber of Commerce, which helps promote local businesses and independent contractors, and the Texas Municipal League, whose purpose is to advocate for the advancement and interests of the cities in Texas. She is also a mentor in the YET Program with Alvin ISD that empowers youth in the district.
Lorraine has been married 27 years to Derek and they have 3 children aged 22, 21 and 16. She will tell you she loves to hear about her kids’ fascinating lives and what they are up to. And if you really know her well, you know her love for animals is the same as that for her family and if she had her way, she’d foster many MORE cats and dogs (beyond the dozens already trotted in and out of her home) and breed reptiles and other critters in what little downtime she has.
