The Manvel Police Department will assist neighborhoods with the creation and implementation of the Community watch or Neighborhood watch programs. These programs are started with the community, citizens of the neighborhood or subdivision with the Police Department as support.
To create a community watch or neighborhood watch, there must be volunteers who will dedicate some of their time to patrol and watch their assigned areas. These volunteers will report any suspicious activity to the Police Department who will respond and investigate.
Community watch and neighborhood watch groups do not replace the Police Department regular patrol efforts. The Police Department will continually patrol their assigned areas. The watch groups act as an extra set of eyes for the Police Department. The community watch group or neighborhood watch group do not detain or make arrests of any person located in their area. They are to be visible and report.
