About the City Manager

Kyle J. Jung started with the City of Manvel on January 17, 2012.  He has more than 20 years of local government experience working for the cities of Flatonia and Sour Lake in the capacity of the city manager, Lubbock and Big Spring in various administrative roles, and with the Texas Municipal League, a statewide association of more than 1,100 municipal governments, being chiefly responsible for the governance of the Texas City Management Association and their 900+ members.

While in Manvel, Kyle has been instrumental in several mixed-use, residential, and retail economic development projects.  Kyle also led the development of numerous growth management plans and policies including the City’s first Master Drainage Plan, a revision of the city’s comprehensive plan, master thoroughfare plan, and the city’s design criteria manual.  Additionally, Kyle worked closely with community leaders to create and strengthen neighborhood development and renewal efforts, grants for public safety improvements, and utility infrastructure projects.

Kyle received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas, and a master’s degree in public administration with an emphasis in budgeting and personnel management from Texas Tech University. He is a member of the Texas City Management Association and the International City/County Management Association. Kyle is married to his college sweetheart, Ashley, and they have two children that keep them very busy.
